How to Choose the Right Air Purifier For Home

As we progress further into the 21st century, the air on our planet is getting steadily more polluted. Factories, industries and cars all contribute to the worsening state of our air. It is no wonder that ever-growing numbers of people are looking to buy air purifiers for their homes. The problem that many people face is choosing the right kind of air purifier to buy. أجهزة تنقية الهواء للمنزل

There are several different types of purifiers and each is targeted at solving a specific problem with the air. This article aims to shed some light on how to choose the right air purifier for your needs.

Understanding Air Purifiers

The first thing you need to understand is exactly how an air purifier works. This will give you a better idea of how it is going to address you needs and what needs to be included for it to do that properly.

An air purifier is, at its simplest, a device that pulls air in and processes it before letting it back out again. It contains a fan which spins to create suction and pull air into the device. Within the device are various filters through which the air passes, and each filter is designed to remove a certain contaminant or pollutant from the air. It is these filters that require your attention when you choose a new air purifier, as you need to get the right ones to address your particular needs.

Dealing With Allergies, Asthma And Pets

If you are sensitive to airborne contaminants and you have allergies or asthma or you own pets, then you need certain filters to deal with large particles in the air. Many people find themselves allergic to dust and pollen in the air, and the same substances can also trigger asthma attacks. If you own pets, then the air of your house is properly full of their fur.

In these cases, the best filters to look for in an air purifier are Hepa filters and pre-filters. This is because you need filters to deal with large particles such as dust and pollen, and also hairs. Pre-filters closely resemble screen doors and are excellent at removing hair from the air. Hepa filters are much finer and they are able to capture dust and pollen that pre-filters are not able to capture. The best air purifier for you should pass the air through a pre-filter first, then through a Hepa filter later on.

Removing Odors And Other Irritating Chemicals

If you live in an area where irritating chemicals or unpleasant odors are present in the air, then you need an air purifier with filters to deal with such things. Odors can also come from other sources such as cigarette smoke. In such a situation, the best filters to have in an air purifier are charcoal, carbon and zeolite filters.

You should note, however, that zeolite filters are reusable while charcoal and carbon filters are not. Zeolite can be cleaned simply placing it under the sun or heating it, whereas charcoal and carbon must be replaced.

Cleaning Out Biological Contaminants

Some of the worst things to have in the air in your home are biological contaminants. These include such things as viruses, bacteria, mold, and mildew, all of which can harm your health and that of your loved ones. Mold and mildew can lead to problems with your respiratory tract while bacteria and viruses often lead to various illnesses.

The best filters to use to get rid of such biological contaminants are UV light filters coupled with a catalyst filter. UV light is extremely effective at killing any biological organism such as viruses and bacteria. It is even used in hospitals to sterilize medical instruments and the air within the buildings. TiO2 and plasma grid filters are catalysts that increase the effects of UV light filters a thousand-fold. You should therefore only look for air purifiers that include both a UV light filter and either a TiO2 or plasma grid filter.
